POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for the management, maintenance, configuration and monitoring of various software technologies managed by the Information Technology department. The position will focus on the administration of Sonnax’s Windows Servers, Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Updates, virtual desktop, Antivirus, email and backup systems. The System Administrator will identify and recommend appropriate solutions to be integrated into Sonnax’s operation, and implement systems pertinent to the above mentioned software and technologies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead in the planning, design, implementation and documentation of various software management systems including servers, Citrix, VM Ware, Active Directory, antivirus solutions and email systems. 
• Manage Active Directory services including but not limited to:  DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, and Certificate Services.
• Develop, maintain, and monitor procedures for all server backups to ensure data integrity is preserved.
• Plan and oversee the distribution of client/server software and service packs via group policy.
• Manage and release server updates, service packs, firmware, bios and AV updates, ensuring the execution creates no or minimal downtime to the business operations.
• Manage Windows Server Updates replication and coordinate updates release with Computer Systems Specialist to the desktop end points.
• Oversee antivirus and anti-spam hardware and/or software systems.  
• Acquire consultant services and manage projects to ensure goals and timelines are met.
• Provide backup support of network infrastructure (LANs, ELANs, VLANs and VPNs) and telephone systems in the absence of the Senior Network Administrator and take appropriate action to correct issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation on the servers, backup/recovery process, Active Directory, Citrix and Antivirus systems.
• Document all issues in department work order system; ensure all issues are current in their documentation.
• Organize and maintain the inventory of server and network hardware and software resources ensuring systems have appropriate licensing and warranty coverage.
• Maintain excellent communication with IT Manager and Network Administrator on all tasks and projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2-4 year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering plus 4 years work experience as a system administrator, or High School Diploma [or equivalent] plus 8 years work experience as a system administrator.
• Industry standard certifications in Microsoft, Citrix, VMWare, Cisco or EMC may substitute for 1 year of work experience each (up to 4 years).
• Proven experience and success with Windows Active Directory, Exchange and Group Policy implementing and managing in a multi-site environment. 
• Ability to effectively present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly language.
