Wear at the lockup control valve results in the converter remaining applied and transferring shift shock. Loss of lube pressure and control timing also results in RPM fluctuation.

Toyota/Lexus A750, A760 and A960 series transmissions can have harsh 2-3 and harsh coast downshift complaints associated with bore wear at the lockup control valve. This is due to the converter clutch remaning applied. When bore wear delays TCC apply, the vehicle RPM may surge or set gear ratio codes due to high slip rates.
