Symptoms:

  • Delayed Reverse
  • Reverse slip
  • Low/Reverse clutch failure
  • Low line pressure in Reverse & manual low

Cause:

Continued movement of the steel valve within the aluminum bore. Lack of optimal valve and linkage stability creates wear and scoring of the manual valve bore, reducing line pressure in reverse and manual low positions.

Correction:

The Sonnax oversized manual valve kit allows the valve bore to be refurbished. The valve has an increased stem diameter at the detent lever and an additional spool for increased stability.

Ford 4R100 and E4OD transmissions often suffer Reverse issues, which can be a direct result of wear and scoring of the casting bore by the OE manual valve. The Sonnax oversized manual valve in kit 36947-13K has been engineered to overcome leakage and wear when installed in a reamed bore. A significant benefit of the Sonnax valve is an additional support spool that has cutouts to allow free fluid flow, but provides added engagement in the bore for additional support, particularly when the valve is extended to the Park and Reverse positions.

  • Hardcoat anodized aluminum valve combats premature wear
  • Additional spool provides improved valve stability while maintaining adequate flow
  • Increased stem diameter and lengthened spool at detent lever increase strength and stability
  • Installation alignment groove aids in assembly
  • Oversized valve allows worn and/or scored cores to be salvaged
  • Valve
  • E-Clip
