- Erratic EDS solenoid control and/or EDS codes
- Firm shifts
- Harsh engagement
OE accumulator piston bumpers lose elasticity and take a set due to long term heat and fluid exposure.
The Sonnax accumulator piston kit restores optimal hydraulic shock absorption and OE functionality to all the solenoid regulated circuits.
Accumulator Piston Kit
- Pistons (7)
- Springs (7)
Overly firm up/downshift feel or harsh engagement can be a sign of deformed accumulator piston bumpers in ZF6HP19/26/32 (Generation 1), ZF6HP21/28/34 (Generation 2), ZF8HP45/55/70, and Ford 6R60, 6R80 units. The OE elastomeric (rubber) bumpers tend to take a set, resulting in loss of hydraulic damping. The Sonnax accumulator piston kit 95740-15K restores hydraulic damping with improved service life.
- Hard-coat anodized aluminum to resist wear
- New matching springs reproduce OE function
- Direct replacement, no special tools required
ZF6HP19/26/32 (Generation 1) valve bodies require six accumulator pistons and springs. ZF6HP21/28/34 (Generation 2) and ZF8HP45/55/70 valve bodies require seven accumulator pistons and springs. Most Ford 6R60 and 6R80 valve bodies require six pistons and springs, but some require only two pistons and springs.

The OE accumulator piston bumpers are worn, brittle or missing. Examine the bumpers closely for flat spots or cracks. Be sure that used bumpers quickly return to their original shape after deformation.
