When full-size GM diesel trucks are modified for racing or performance street use, OE clutch plates slip and fail to hold. Upgrading to an aftermarket multi-plate converter is the only solution.

The Sonnax kit pairs the salvaged OE fluid coupling parts (impeller, stator and turbine) with new heavy duty front cover, clutch plates, piston and turbine hub to increase overall converter capacity. Additional parts are required for installation of AL-RK-3:
For 2005-earlier units, bearing spacer AL-WS-3 must be added to the stator. Impeller hub AL-90-3G should be installed to update to AL-N-1 bearing used with AL-WA-2 bearing adapter.
For 2006 and 2007 units, the OE stator cap must be replaced with AL-WA-3.
For 2008-later units, measure the combined height of the OE stator cap and bearing race.
2008-Later units with a combined height of .482” will require replacing the OE stator cap and bearing with AL-WA-3 and AL-N-2.
2008-Later units with a combined height of .513” will require replacing the OE stator cap and bearing with AL-WA-4 and AL-N-2.
