Quality Control Inspector

POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for QC/QA inspection of Sonnax products to ensure maximum quality and meet company standards and related QC/QA activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interpret and proofread engineering drawings and blue prints.
  • Evaluate appropriate measuring tools to use to meet the intent of the drawing, and planning overall inspections.
  • Perform and record accurate and repeatable dimensional inspections to approved-engineered drawings for machined products to meet print specifications.
  • Perform tests and inspections on incoming product during and after the manufacturing cycle, including final inspections before shipment.
  • Perform inspections for Engineering R&D, Manufacturing, Packaging or Distribution, as needed.
  •  Use computer systems to record data, interface with MRP system and research product issues. 
  • Support the customer feedback process – research, inspect samples and report results.
  • Recommend improvements throughout the inspection process when necessary.
  • Routinely interface with other departmental team members – Engineering, Operations, Warehouse and Distribution – and serve as the Quality representative on cross-functional teams. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree, or High School diploma/GED plus 3+ years of inspection experience required.
  • Strong decision making skills in the selection of various measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges and the knowledge/experience to use them properly.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerancing, statistical analysis, metrology and shop mathematics is required.
  • Familiarity with Quality practices and problem solving tools – Six Sigma, CEDAC, A3, KATA, Root cause analysis, 5 Why’s.
  • Attention to detail in regards to accurate and repeatable measurements; recording data and interpreting blueprints is critical.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
  • Ideal candidate must be a supportive team member with a strong work ethic and ability to handle multiple priorities, have a positive, open attitude, and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and to embrace Continuous Improvement.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite along with the ability to learn other software packages.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector certification is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to wear (without restrictions) required personal protective equipment including safety eyewear and footwear.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
