Senior Production Planner/Scheduler

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Production Planner/Scheduler will work together with the Materials Planning Manager in developing and maintaining a manufacturing planning function that consists of master scheduling, production planning, and manufacturing order management. The person in this role is responsible for delivering results as a key member of the Operations Team; assuring resources are aligned and planned for customer satisfaction. The Senior Production Planner/Scheduler ensures effectiveness and efficiency of material and capacity planning, by establishing, reviewing and maintaining a master production schedule for assigned items.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draw up master production schedule to meet inventory goals and customer requirements according to sales forecasts and/or customer orders.
  • Understand the principals and applications of demand forecasting, reviews historical demand data and updates forecasts accordingly.
  • Participate in and contribute to monthly Sales and Operations Planning process.
  • Plan, schedule and prioritize production according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Incorporate methods and techniques involved in lean manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with team members or department supervisors to resolve constraints or delays of assigned products or components.
  • Lead, and participate in problem solving events and continuous improvements projects to improve process effectiveness, efficiency and performance.
  • Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions or constraints.
  • Communicate updated availability information to Sales and other stakeholder groups.
  • Identify and document risks and countermeasures with mitigation plans.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/BA degree preferred and five (5) or more years of experience in manufacturing Planning, Master Scheduling, Material Planning, and/or Supply Chain. AS degree and combination of experience considered.
  • Experience in precision metal fabrication, industrial products, machined assemblies a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, Lean certification a plus.
  • APICS certification or related professional training preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills; attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook.
