K3 clutches in Aisin AW TF-60SN (VW/Audi 09G, 09K, 09M) and Mini 6F21WA units are applied in 3rd, 5th and Reverse gears in conjunction with other clutch packs. As the K3 clutch control valve oscillates and strokes over time, bore deterioration results, which prevents proper hydraulic control of the K3 clutch pack. This can cause flares, slipping, erratic clutch apply timing, ratio codes, bind-ups, and burnt K3 clutches. Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized K3 clutch control valve kit 15741-08K restores normal shift operation by re-establishing the hydraulic integrity of the K3 circuit.

A wet air test at the locations shown result in leakage and/or a vacuum test at the ports hold a minimum of 18 in-Hg.
