Manufacturing Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW

Sonnax Industries, a leading automotive aftermarket company, has an exciting opportunity for a production supervisor in a ‘build to stock’ operation. We are looking for the right candidate to move into a supervisory role due to a planned retirement. Our team manufactures a wide range of precision-machined drivetrain components from the prototype stage to regular larger production runs. The Sonnax production team is just beginning to adapt a more formal quality and continuous improvement approach. Fundamentally, the most qualified candidate will have multiple successful supervisory experiences building and leading teams in times of change as a company grows and adopts more formal quality management processes.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a presence on the shop floor to support employees, promote performance to established standards and resolve problems as they occur.
    • Plan and establish work schedules and assignments in support of production goals.
    • Monitor and maintain adherence to quality standards, production time standards and work instructions.
    • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
    • Review records of employee attendance and hours worked with ADP, time off requests and follow wage and hour laws/company pay policy.
    • Interpret specifications, blue prints, job orders, and company policies and procedures to staff.
    • Work with other supervisors and managers to coordinate work in the department and between departments.
    • Execute production control tasks in ERP system as required. May include work order packet creation, production tracking, operation validation and corrections and inventory discrepancy resolution.
    • Promote a safe work environment, compliance with safety standards and prompt accident reporting.
    • Coordinate the proper care of all Sonnax tools and equipment.
    • Foster effective employee relations and provide employee coaching and development.
  • Continuous improvement:
    • Coordinate and document staff training as needed, to comply with operational or process changes.
    • Solicit and act upon improvement ideas from employees.
    • Recommend measures to improve safety, production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Assist Manufacturing Management with preparation of department performance evaluations.
  • Perform production operations and operate machinery as needed.
  • Issue resolution related to work duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing environments with project leadership, team leadership, and/or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of CNC and metal cutting processes. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills working with shop floor personnel and other departments.
  • Strong problem analysis and resolution.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and enterprise software such as Sage X3 and Aras Innovator preferred.
  • Proficiency in shop math.
  • Fork lift certification.
