Symptoms:

Coastdown Neutral

K1 Clutch burned
C1 Clutch burned
Erratic shift timing
Flare shifts
Harsh shifts

Cause:

Wear in C1/K1 clutch control bore allows circuit pressure loss, preventing proper hydraulic actuation of C1/K1 clutches.

Correction:

Recondition the valve bore and install Sonnax C1/K1 clutch control valve kit.

C1/K1 clutches in listed transmissions are applied in 1st through 4th Gears in conjunction with other clutch packs. As the C1/K1 clutch control valve oscillates and strokes over time, bore deterioration results, which prevents proper hydraulic control of the clutch pack. This can cause flares, slipping, erratic clutch apply timing, ratio codes and burnt C1/K1 clutches. Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax C1/K1 clutch control valve kit 15741-25K restores normal shift operation by re-establishing the hydraulic integrity of the C1/K1 circuit.
