Symptoms:

  • Delayed engagement
  • Soft shifts
  • Low line rise
  • Erratic buzz
  • Uncontrolled pressure in Reverse
  • High line pressure in Reverse

Cause:

A worn main regulator bore.

Correction:

Reaming the OEM valve bore and installing the Sonnax sleeve restores hydraulic integrity and allows reuse of the OE valve.

As the valve bore wears at the inboard spool, line pressure escalates with increased temperature and the pressure regulator valve does not stroke, reducing converter charge. As line pressure goes up, servo covers and pistons have excess pressure in reverse. Delayed engagements occur as the converter feed is reduced with excess bore wear. Line pressure will be reduced as the circuit between line, converter and exhaust wear. The Sonnax kit 56947J-09K includes a wear-resistant aluminum sleeve that allows reuse of the OE pressure regulator valve.

  • Highly wear-resistant aluminum sleeve refurbishes hydraulic integrity.
  • The OE valve is reused as a cost-saving method.
