A 2-3 accumulator support plate is added during the remanufacturing process to elminate separator plate cracking. Sonnax remanufactured valve body F098 is a direct replacement. No modifications are needed as it completely interchanges with the OE valve body.

’92-’00 Identification

Casting Number

  • 1992 has 13mm dowel pins and an F2 Rough Forging Number.
  • 1993-1995 have 13mm dowel pins and an F3 Rough Forging Number.
  • 1996-2000 have 10mm dowel pins and an F6 Rough Forging Number.
    • To identify if you have a ’96-’97 or a ’98-’00, use the solenoid identification. The ’96-’97 use a wired harness. The ’98-’00 uses a solid harness.



The Casting Number is located under the plate. See RED ARROW for location.

4R70W, ’98-Later Identification

The valve body stiffener plate in the 2-3 accumulator area was eliminated on ’01-later Ford 4R70E, 4R70W, 4R75E and 4R75W transmissions. Sonnax adds a custom 2-3 accumulator support plate on these valve bodies. The addition of this plate eliminates separator plate cracking and cross-leaking.
