Human Resources Assistant

POSITION OVERVIEW

Provide a variety of technical, administrative, and confidential duties to support the human resources department in the areas of benefits, recruiting, onboarding, personnel and training records. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Benefits administration including enrolling new hires, terminating employees and assisting employees with changes and claims. 
  • Advertise/post job openings and screen applications and resumes.
  • Conduct pre-screening interviews and reference checks.
  • Coordinate with candidates and hiring managers for interviews. 
  • Conduct the on-boarding of new employees.
  • Maintain personnel files.
  • Keep abreast of employment laws and practices.
  • Prepare reports for the HR monthly status update.
  • Coordinate training schedules, file all training records and manage database. 
  • Interpret, assist and respond to queries from employees and managers regarding company policies. 
  • Type memos, general correspondence, job postings and confidential documents. 
  • Daily interaction with employees, supervisors and business associates.
  • Assist with additional HR responsibilities as needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Associates degree with 2+ years of previous job related experience, or knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources is preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point) and experience with ADP HRIS system preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in record keeping experience required.
  • Knowledge of benefits administration and employment laws and practices is expected.
  • Must be polished, driven and dedicated with excellent attention to detail and high sense of confidentiality.
  • Must possess strong customer service skills with the ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to think quickly and respond professionally under pressure.
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm and initiative required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new systems, processes and tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines in a calm manner.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Work efficiently and effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to wear (without restrictions) required personal protective equipment including safety eyewear and footwear.
