Buyer

POSITION OVERVIEW

Procure products, material, supplies and services for customer requirements or inventory demand.  Work as part of a purchasing team of buyers and planners to support the company’s material requirements for both production and product development. The role involves multiple interfaces both within the company and with supplier partners. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Verify requirements and specifications of purchase requests.
  • Review inventory records (MRP reports, Planning Workbench, PULL signals) or checks MRO storage areas to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain optimal terms. 
  • Clearly communicate to suppliers Sonnax’s expectations and hold suppliers accountable for meeting those expectations.
  • Maintain electronic records of items purchased, prices, and deliveries.
  • Maintain organized records of materials, suppliers and purchase order history.
  • Compute total cost of items purchased.
  • Confer with suppliers concerning late deliveries.
  • Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates and award contract to bidders or place order with suppliers or mail order firms.
  • Help resolve problems with invoicing and accounts payable.
  • Other projects as assigned by manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree and/or two or more years related experience. B.S. Degree a plus. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with emphasis on the use of Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Successfully plan and organize work through prioritization, breaking down tasks and requirements, scheduling time for completion, and staying focused.
  • Proactively build collaborative working relationships with key internal and external contacts which ensure work is accomplished.
  • Proven ability to acquire and apply new information quickly.
  • Track record of personal attention to understanding how all aspects of one’s work affects other departments and giving care and attention to quality.
  • Clear communication to different types of people in different mediums (phone, email, face to face, etc.)
  • Display a track record of good judgment and sound decision making skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
•    No restrictions on wearing required PPE for area, including safety eyewear and steel-toed shoes.
