Symptoms:

Cause:

Wear in solenoid regulator valve bore causes erratic supply pressure to control solenoids. Wear in TCC relief bore results in improper lube supply and TCC control problems.

Correction:

Recover hydraulic control, renew shift and TCC operation by reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized solenoid pressure regulator or converter relief valve.

Listed Ford and Mazda transmissions often suffer shift abnormalities caused by excess wear in the solenoid pressure regulator bore. This wear prevents proper regulation of oil pressure supplied to control solenoids, resulting in harsh or soft shifts, solenoid codes, wrong gear starts, TCC apply issues, and clutch failure.

Excess wear in the converter relief bore causes pressure loss to TCC control valve, resulting in apply and release concerns as well as TCC codes. The lube circuit will also be negatively affected by a worn relief bore.

Reconditioning the bores and installing Sonnax oversized solenoid pressure regulator/converter relief valve 46892-03 shores up the hydraulic integrity of these circuits for renewed shift and TCC operation.

  • Hardcoat anodized aluminum valve combats premature wear
  • Annular grooves help center valve in bore to reduce future side-load wear
