Cause:

Continuous oscillation of the steel lockup control plunger valve wears the inside of the aluminum sleeve bore, allowing converter apply pressure to exhaust and preventing proper control of the lockup control valve.

Correction:

The tightly toleranced, drop-in replacement Sonnax lockup control plunger valve kit restores proper hydraulic clearances and uses upgraded materials to prevent wear.

Toyota/Lexus U140E, U140F, U151E, U151F, U240E, U241E and U250E transmissions use a lockup control plunger valve to appropriately position the lockup control valve for converter apply and release. Wear of this plunger sleeve can result in converter apply pressure exhausting, resulting in TCC apply & release concerns, TCC codes, and a burnt converter. Replacing the worn sleeve and plunger with Sonnax lockup control plunger valve kit 57917E-03K restores proper control at this location.
