The noted Toyota transmissions may exhibit poor shift quality due to wear in the clutch apply control plunger sleeve. As the OE steel plunger valve oscillates in the cast aluminum bore, wear occurs. This prevents proper control of the inboard clutch apply control valve, resulting in problems with sequencing of clutch apply and release, which may cause flares and binds on up or downshifts. Ultimately this can lead to clutch failure.
Sonnax clutch apply control plunger valve kit 57917E-05K restores proper hydraulic clearances to ensure correct sequencing of clutch apply and release. Improved wear-resistant materials are used to provide durability and prevent future wear.
Sonnax valve body layouts provide a detailed overview of individual units making it quick and easy to determine what’s available for the specific valve body you’re working on. See all Sonnax valve body layouts.
Vacuum testing at the port(s) indicated fails to hold the recommended minimum in-Hg, or if wear is visually detected.
