Wear at the 2-3 overlap control valve bore prevents proper exhaust of the disengaging clutch pressure, altering the precise timing required in the clutch-to-clutch shift transition.

The improved Sonnax oversized overlap control valve kit restores hydraulic sealing integrity and valve timing when installed in a refurbished bore.

The 2-3 overlap control valve, controlled by EPC (modulated pressure) and shift valve pressure, is used to gradually reduce the pressure to the disengaging K3 clutch, during the 2-3 up shift. The Mercedes 722.6 transmission uses clutch-to-clutch transitioning during shifts, so timing is very critical to prevent shift complaints like flares or bind-ups. Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized 2-3 overlap control valve kit 68942-27K restores OE shift pressures for proper timing and function.

  • The oversized hard-coat anodized valve has slightly longer critical spool diameters and optimized annular groove placement for better hydraulic sealing and to prevent future bore wear.
  • The wear-resistant plunger sleeve has an added O-ring to provide additional positive sealing in the bore
