Cause:

Oscillation of the K2 clutch control valve causes bore wear that prevents proper hydraulic actuation of K2 clutch.

K2 clutches in listed units are applied in fourth, fifth and sixth gears in conjunction with other clutch packs. As the K2 clutch control valve oscillates and strokes over time, bore deterioration results, which prevents proper hydraulic control of the K2 clutch pack. This can cause flares, slipping, erratic clutch apply timing, ratio codes, and burnt K2 clutches.
