Symptoms:

  • Delayed Forward
  • No Forward
  • Gear ratio & solenoid codes
  • Failsafe mode
  • Slipping gears
  • Burnt Forward clutch
  • Overheated fluid

Cause:

Forward clutches in Ford 6R140 transmissions are applied in 1st through 4th Gears in conjunction with other clutches. As the forward clutch regulator valve oscillates and strokes over time, bore deterioration results, allowing pressure loss that prevents proper hydraulic control of the forward clutches. This can cause no or delayed Forward, slipping, fluid overheat, burnt clutches, ratio or solenoid codes and failsafe operation.

Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized forward clutch regulator valve kit 126740-13K restores normal shift operation and clutch control for revived forward operation.
