Cause:

Bore wear at the forward and reverse engagement latch valve allows critical pressure loss and/or valve hangup.

Correction:

Recover hydraulic control and renew shift performance by reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized forward and reverse engagement latch valve kit.

The Ford CFT30 forward and reverse engagement latch valve provides feedback pressure to the forward and reverse engagement valve, balancing the engagement valve to assist with apply and release of the forward or reverse clutch packs. Excess wear at this bore causes leakage that affects clutch timing and feel, resulting in delayed engagement, slipping, harsh shifts, burnt forward or reverse clutches, code P0811 and overheated fluid. Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized forward and reverse engagement latch valve kit 33740-07K restores normal shift operation and clutch control by restoring the hydraulic integrity of this circuit.
