Symptoms:

  • RPM surge on acceleration
  • Chatter on acceleration
  • Push belt slippage & pulley fracture
  • Metal contamination

Cause:

A worn valve spool or bore can allow control oil pressure to escape to sump. Dependent on wear location and severity, loss of control pressure will cause excess, or insufficient, oil pressure to the secondary pulley actuator.

Correction:

To restore oil pressure control, freshen your bore and replace worn out or damaged parts with a Sonnax oversized valve kit.

In Jatco/Nissan JF016E (RE0F10D) and JF017E (RE0F10E) units, the secondary pulley reducing valve supplies and regulates oil pressure to the secondary pulley actuator as commanded by the secondary pulley solenoid valve. A worn bore or valve spool can cause loss of oil pressure control in the secondary pulley circuit. Symptoms indicating a possibly degraded secondary pulley pressure control are: push-belt slippage and pulley fracture, chatter and/or RPM surge upon acceleration.

Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized secondary pulley reducing valve kit 33510N-16K restores optimal oil pressure management in the secondary pulley circuit.
