GM 4L60 (700-R4), 4L60-E Accumulator Valve Codes — Deciphering the Alphabet Soup of Shift Feel

Symptoms:
- 3-4 Bump
- Bang shifts
- Harsh shifts
- Reduced 2-4 band life
- Soft shifts
- 1-2 Bang at light throttle
Cause:
Wear of accumulator valve sleeve or damage created during rebuild removal allows critical throttle, line and/or accumulator pressure loss.Correction:
Recover hydraulic control and renew shift operation by installing drop-in Sonnax accumulator valve sleeve.Warning:
OE valve and spring must be reused with Sonnax sleeve.

This can often be caused by wear at the accumulator valve sleeve or damage created during normal rebuild removal process. Throttle pressure, line pressure or accumulator pressure may leak past wear pockets or damage in the sleeve, creating harsh/soft or bang shifts. Installing Sonnax AX code accumulator valve sleeve 77754-61 corrects excess wear for revived shift operation and feel.
