Symptoms:

  • Lost or damaged component

Cause:

When replacing the pressure switch discs and seals, the plastic piston can become lost or damaged.

Correction:

Install a direct replacement Sonnax pressure switch plastic piston to salvage the expensive TEHCM.

Salvage the expensive TEHCM in listed GM 6-speed transmissions by replacing lost or damaged pistons with a direct replacement Sonnax pressure switch plastic piston 124740-72K. To replace an OE piston, simply clean debris from the pressure switch cavity using low air pressure (30 psi), then gently install a new piston with a pick as shown here.
