Symptoms:

  • Soft shifts
  • Flare shifts
  • Gear ratio codes
  • Solenoid performance codes
  • Low solenoid feed pressure
  • Delayed engagement
  • Harsh shifts

Cause:

Excess wear allows valuable solenoid control pressure to exhaust causing multiple shift concerns and performance code related issues.

Correction:

Restore hydraulic control by reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized solenoid modulating pressure blow-off valve.

Chrysler AS68RC units often develop solenoid feed related issues caused by excessive wear in the solenoid modulating pressure blow-off valve bore located in the upper valve body casting. Once worn leakage causes low solenoid feed pressure resulting in multiple shift complaints and concerns. Wear can also cause gear ratio errors and solenoid performance codes related to pressure switch 1 and 2.

Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized solenoid modulating pressure blow-off valve 99740-03 reestablishes correct clearances for proper hydraulic functions and shift control, salvaging these very expensive and hard-to-find valve bodies.

  • Hardened steel valve combats premature wear
  • Oversized valve is recalibrated to meet original OE pressures using the OE springs

Sonnax valve body layouts provide a detailed overview of individual units making it quick and easy to determine what’s available for the specific valve body you’re working on. See all Sonnax valve body layouts.
