Sonnax once again has been recognized for the quality of its worksite wellness efforts by the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness & Sports and Vermont Department of Health. The employee-owned company will be presented with the Governor’s Excellence in Worksite Wellness Award at the March 25 Worksite Wellness Conference in Burlington, Vt.
“Worksites that promote healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco use cessation, and breastfeeding, contribute to the overall health and wellness of all Vermonters, and they are one of the key reasons we are routinely rated the nation’s healthiest state,” said Health Commissioner Harry Chen, MD.
The awards are designed to highlight and recognize what worksites from around the state are doing to promote the health and wellness of their employees. The organizations which receive the awards vary in size, industry and location but they all have a common thread: a commitment to workplace wellness.
One of 92 Vermont businesses considered for this award, Sonnax is dedicated to offering an at-work solution delivering high-quality worksite wellness that engages the employee, reduces risk, lowers cost and results in a happier, healthier workforce. The company offers onsite wellness coaching, challenges and education sessions aimed at helping employees take charge of their physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing.
“Many people don’t realize that most chronic disease is preventable and related to lifestyle habits, which means we have more control over our own current and long-term health than we realize,” said Tamara Golden, Sonnax’s Driving Wellness health coach. “By educating and supporting employees in making healthy choices, they can not only be more productive in their work, but also live out their other dreams and aspirations unhindered by chronic illness.”View News Archive
