Cause:

Overheating and manufacturing flaws cause sleeve rotation and block oil flow, which leads to transmission failure.

Correction:

Replace worn or damaged stator shaft with Sonnax stator support shaft assembly.

Sonnax stator support shaft assembly 77918S-09K in GM 4L60-E, 4L65-E and 4L70-E transmissions eliminates sleeve rotation by securing the sleeve in place with Loctite^®. The assembly is 100% leak tested by Sonnax to ensure a secure seal. Shafts have slotted bolt holes for easy alignment during installation.
