Symptoms:

  • Erratic shifts
  • Loss of Forward under hard acceleration from a stop
  • 2-3 Neutral
  • Neutral after 4th
  • No 2nd
  • 3rd & Reverse only

Cause:

Solenoid regulator bore wear allows fluid escape that reduces solenoid supply pressure. Severe bore wear induces valve hang-up.

Correction:

Overcome solenoid supply pressure problems and restore normal driveability by reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized solenoid regulator valve kit.

Listed Ford transmissions often exhibit driveability concerns that can be caused by bore wear at the solenoid regulator valve. Wear here allows pressure escape that may result in problems such as loss of 2nd gear, erratic shifting, neutral after 4th, or 2-3 neutral. If the bore deteriorates further, the valve will stick, resulting in wrong gear starts or loss of Forward, especially under hard acceleration. Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized solenoid regulator valve kit 76948-47K restores smooth driveability and shift control in all ranges.
