The front cover pilot in Chrysler 68RFE units is attached with only three tack welds, making it prone to misalignment in handling. When the cover pilot and ball bearing inside the cover are misaligned, stator support shaft bushing and transmission pump failures can result. Sonnax billet front cover CH-CC-7 features a stronger pilot integrated into the cover. The welded-in-place cover hub is precision-machined to align with the pilot.
